1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, technical requirements,
test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of heat pump
water heater for household and similar application (hereinafter referred to as heat pump water
heater).
This Standard is applicable to heat pump water heater for household and similar application
driven by electric motors, using vapor compression refrigeration cycle, and air or water as the
heat source, and for the purpose of providing hot water. Heat pump water heaters with other
heat sources or purposes may take this as a reference.
This Standard does not apply to industrial heat pump water heaters.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 heat pump water heater
Heater pump water heater refers to an equipment that utilizes a motor-driven vapor compression
refrigeration cycle to transfer heat from air or water to heated water to produce domestic hot water.
3.2 air-source heat pump water heater
Air-source heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater using ambient air as the heat source.
3.3 water-source heat pump water heater
Water-source heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater using water (including
water drawn from wells, lakes, seas or rivers, or water circulated in underground coils, and
available water for other purposes) as the heat source.
3.4 instantaneous heat pump water heater
Instantaneous heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater, in which, the initial
cold water flows through the heat exchanger inside the heat pump water heater once and reaches
the temperature set by the user.
3.5 circulating heat pump water heater
Circulating heat pump water heater refers to a heat pump water heater, in which, the initial cold
water flows through the heat exchanger inside the heat pump water heater for several times and
gradually reaches the set temperature.
4 Product Classification
4.1 Types of Classification
4.1.1 Classification by the mode of heat source.
4.1.2 Classification by the type of power source.
4.2 Optimal Values
4.2.1 The recommended optimal values of the rated capacity of the water storage tank of the
heat pump water heater are.
4.2.2 The recommended optimal values of the rated heating water capacity of the heat pump water heater are.
4.3 Model Naming
Example. KFD-BpY70/150A represents a split-type air-source instantaneous variable-frequency
heat pump water heater with an auxiliary electrical heat source, a heating water capacity
of 70 L/h and a water tank capacity of 150 L, and the manufacturer’s customized serial No. is A.
4.4 Basic Parameters
The test conditions of the heat pump water heater are shown in Table 1 and Table 2.
5 Technical Requirements
5.1 General Requirements
5.1.2 On the premise that the quality of the inlet water complies with GB 5749, all pipelines
and heat exchange equipment on the water-side of the heat source shall have the ability to resist
corrosion; during use, the heat pump water heater shall not contaminate the water source used.
5.2 Structural Requirements
5.2.1 The fasteners and other components of the heat pump water heater shall comply with
relevant national standards, and its wearing parts shall be easy to replace.
5.2.2 When the water inlet and outlet pipes of the heat pump water heater are directly installed
in the sub-water supply system, the water inlet and outlet pipes shall comply with the
requirements of relevant national standards.
5.3 Weather Resistance Requirements
After being subject to the test in accordance with 6.14, the heat pump water heater shall comply
with the following requirements.
5.4 Air-tightness and Pressure-bearing Requirements
5.5 Performance Requirements for the Heat Pump Water Heater under Nominal Conditions
5.5.1 Heat pump heating capacity
When carrying out the test in accordance with the method of 6.3, the measured heating capacity
of the heat pump shall not be less than 95% of the nominal value of the heat pump heating capacity.
5.5.2 Heating water capacity
When carrying out the test in accordance with the method of 6.3, the measured heating water
capacity shall not be less than 95% of the nominal value of the heating water capacity.
5.5.5 High-temperature heating performance
5.5.8 Requirements for annual average heating performance of heat pump
5.6.1 General requirements
The heat pump water heater shall be able to operate normally under the temperature conditions
specified in Table 1 or Table 2.
5.6.2 Maximum operation
When carrying out the test in accordance with the method of 6.5, during the whole test process,
each component of the heat pump water heater shall not be damaged, and the heat pump water
heater shall be able to operate normally.
5.7 Hot Water Storage Performance
5.7.1 Insulation performance
The insulation performance shall be tested in accordance with the method of 6.10.After 24 h
of storage, the drop in temperature of the hot water shall not be greater than the requirements of Table 5.
5.7.2 Performance
5.8 Noise
The noise of the heat pump water heater shall comply with the following requirements.
5.9 Requirements for Packaging
After being subject to the test of 6.12, the packaging box, foam and other protective accessories
shall not be deformed to affect the protective function. The heat pump water heater in the
packaged state shall comply with the relevant stipulations of GB/T 1019.The air-tightness and
noise of the refrigeration system shall comply with the stipulations of 5.4.1 and 5.8.
5.10 Requirements for Transportation
After being subject to the test in accordance with the method specified in 6.13, the heat pump
water heater shall not be damaged and the fasteners shall not be loose. The refrigerant leakage
and noise shall comply with the stipulations of 5.4.1 and 5.8.
6 Test Methods
6.1 General Conditions of Test
6.1.1 Temperature conditions
The test conditions of the air-source heat pump water heater shall comply with the stipulations
of Table 1; the test conditions of the water-source heat pump water heater shall comply with the
stipulations of Table 2.Select the corresponding operating conditions for the test.
6.1.2 Power supply conditions

6.2 Air-tightness and Pressure-bearing Tests of Heat Pump Water Heater
6.2.1 Air-tightness test for refrigeration system
6.2.2 Pressure-bearing test for water system
Apply water pressure to the container and heat exchanger; increase the water pressure to the
following specified value at a rate of 0.13 MPa/s and maintain at this value for 5 min. The water
pressure is.
6.3 Heat Pump Heating Capacity
6.3.1 General conditions of test
If there is no special requirement, the heat pump heating capacity test shall be carried out under
the following conditions.
6.3.2 Test method for heat pump heating capacity
6.4 Heat Pump Heating Power Input
While testing the heating capacity of the heat pump, determine the heat pump heating power
input. For the circulating heat pump water heaters and the static heat pump water heaters, the
heat pump heating power input is the ratio of electricity consumption to heating time.
6.5 Maximum Operation
6.5.1 Instantaneous heat pump water heaters
At the rated frequency, respectively adjust the test voltage to 90% and 110% of the rated voltage.
Under the maximum operating conditions specified in Table 1 or Table 2, start the operation of
the heat pump water heater. After reaching a stability, continuously operate for 30 min, then,
stop for 3 min (during this period, the voltage rise shall not exceed 3%); start to operate for 30 min.
6.6 Automatic Defrosting
6.7 Minimum Operation
6.7.1 Minimum operation test for instantaneous heat pump water heaters
Under the minimum operating conditions specified in Table 1 or Table 2, make the heat pump
water heater operate, until the operating conditions are stable, then, operate for 4 h.
6.7.3 Minimum operation test for static heat pump water heaters
Connect the water tank (water tank of the maximum capacity) in standard configuration of the
heat pump water heater; under the minimum operating conditions specified in Table 1 or Table
2, start the operation, until the heat pump water heater reaches the maximum set temperature, then, stop.
6.8 Low-temperature Operation with Hot Water
6.10 Hot Water Storage Performance
6.11 Noise Test
6.11.1 Measurement site
The measurement site shall be a full or semi-anechoic chamber on the reflection plane. The
difference between the noise of the heat pump water heater under test and the background noise
shall be above 10 dB(A).
6.11.2 Measuring instruments
The test instruments shall use a sound level meter of Type I or above specified in GB/T 3785.1-
2010, and other test instruments with comparable accuracy.
6.11.3 Installation conditions
The heat pump water heater shall be installed in accordance with the relevant technical
conditions, and both the outdoor unit and the water tank shall be placed on a 5 mm thick rubber
pad (with a shore hardness of 45).
7 Inspection Rules
7.1 Category of Inspection
The inspection of the heat pump water heaters is generally classified into exit-factory inspection,
sampling inspection and type inspection.
7.2 Exit-factory Inspection
7.2.1 All heat pump water heaters submitted for delivery shall be subject to exit-factory
inspection in accordance with the corresponding product inspection management regulations.
The test items, test requirements and test methods of the exit-factory inspection are shown in
the stipulations of Table 11.Each unit shall pass the inspection of the production line before
exiting the factory, and be accompanied by quality inspection certificate, installation
instructions, warranty sheet, packing list and other documents and accessories.
7.2.2 After the exit-factory inspection, all qualified products can be delivered as qualified
products (genuine products); disqualified products found through inspection are not allowed to
be mixed into qualified batches, and shall be properly reworked to restore to a qualified state,
then, they can be delivered as qualified products; products that still cannot be restored to a
qualified state after rework must not be treated as qualified products.
7.3 Sampling Inspection
The sampling inspection items, test requirements and test methods are shown in Table 11.The
sampling shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 2828.1.The sampling inspection items,
batch size, sampling scheme, inspection level and acceptable quality level of the batch-by-batch
inspection may be determined by the quality inspection department of the manufacturer. After
passing the sampling inspection, all qualified products can be delivered to the ordering party as
qualified products.
7.4 Type Inspection
7.4.1 Under one of the following circumstances, the heat pump water heaters shall be subject
to the type inspection.
7.4.2 The type inspection items include all the test items specified in the items listed in Table 11.
7.4.3 The sampling for type inspection shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 2829-2002,
and a one-time sampling scheme with discrimination level I shall be adopted. See Table 12 for
the sample size and rejection quality level.
7.4.4 The safety items of the type inspection are all fatal flaws, and the determination of the
safety items must be 100% qualification. If there is one disqualified item, then, the cycle of
products shall be determined as disqualified.
7.4.5 The samples of the type inspection shall be randomly taken from qualified finished
products, and the samples of the type inspection shall not be delivered to the ordering party as
qualified products.
8 Marking, Packaging, Transportation and Storage
8.1 Marking
8.1.1 Each heat pump water heater shall have a durable nameplate fixed on an obvious place.
The nameplate shall clearly mark the following items, and shall also mark the relevant contents
required by GB 4706.32 and GB/T 5296.2.
8.1.2 The heat pump water heaters shall be provided with signs indicating the working
conditions, such as. control switches and knobs, and other signs indicating the rotation direction;
be attached with circuit diagrams at appropriate locations.
8.1.3 On the water storage tank of the split-type heat pump water heaters, there shall be a
durable nameplate fixed on an obvious place. The nameplate shall clearly indicate the following items.
8.1.4 The heat pump water heaters shall have a registered trademark.
8.1.5 Packaging signs and packaging boxes shall be clearly marked with.
8.2 Packaging
8.2.1 Before packaging, the heat pump water heaters shall be cleaned and dried.
8.2.2 The packaging of the heat pump water heaters shall comply with the requirements of 5.10.
8.3 Transportation and Storage
8.3.1 During the transportation and storage, the heat pump water heaters shall be protected
from severe vibration, collision, dumping, rain and snow, and chemical corrosion.
8.3.2 The environmental conditions for the product storage shall comply with the relevant
stipulations of GB/T 4798.1.The products shall be stored in a dry and ventilated warehouse
with no corrosive and harmful gases around.
8.3.3 After the package is opened, if the product still needs to be stored, it shall be re- packaged.
