Summary
This standard applies to the definition of mechanical joints, provides the general requirements for optical fiber and cable mechanical joints (hereinafter referred to as mechanical joints) and the lowest quality assessment procedures. All dimensions and optical properties of mechanical joints required to be specified in the applicable detail specification. This standard includes the following four joints Blank Detail Specification: - The permanent mechanical single-fiber connectors (Appendix A); - detachable mechanical single fiber connector (Appendix B); - permanent mechanical multi-fiber connector (Appendix C); - detachable mechanical multi-fiber connector (see Appendix D); additional optical, mechanical and environmental performance requirements shall be specified in the detail specification.
