Foreword
GB/T 1592 “Agricultural tractors - Rear-mounted power take-off types 1, 2, 3
and 4” consists of the following three parts:
- Part 1: General specifications, safety requirements, dimensions for master
shield and clearance zone;
- Part 2: Narrow-track tractors, dimensions for master shield and clearance
zone;
- Part 3: Main PTO dimensions and spline dimensions, location of PTO.
This Part is Part 3 of GB/T 1592.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 1592.3-2008 “Agricultural tractors - Rear- mounted
power take-off types 1, 2 and 3 - Part 3: Main PTO dimensions and spline
dimensions location of PTO”.
Compared with GB/T 1592.3-2008, in addition to editorial modifications, the
main technical differences in this Part are as follows:
- modified the standard name;
- added the examples for low ground clearance tractor (see Clause 3);
- added “For tractors that can be installed with multiple PTO types, hmax shall
be the value of the maximum PTO type specified by the tractor” (see
Clause 3);
- added the requirements for tractor PTO type 4 (see Table 1, Table 2, Table
5 and Table 6);
- added PTO dimensions and spline dimensions of ϕ38 in type 1, ϕ48 in type
2 (see Table 2, Table 3 and Table 4).
This Part uses redrafting method to modify and adopt ISO 500-3:2014
“Agricultural tractors - Rear-mounted power take-off types 1, 2 and 3 - Part 3:
Main PTO dimensions and spline dimensions, location of PTO” (English
version).
The technical differences and reasons between this Part and ISO 500-3:2014
are as follows:

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 1592 specifies technical requirements for rear-mounted
power take-off types 1, 2, 3 and 4 of agricultural tractors as well as power take-
off location.
This Part is applicable to rear-mounted power take-off of agricultural tractors
(hereinafter referred to as the power take-off / PTO).
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of
this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any
amendments) applies.

3 Location of PTO
The axis of PTO shall be in the shadow of the rectangle shown in Figure 1. Its
dimensions meet the requirements of Table 1. It is parallel to the longitudinal
axis of the tractor. The angle with the ground plane is allowed to be within ±3°.
The values of h in Figure 1 and Table 1 are applicable to general-purpose
tractors.
For special purpose high ground clearance tractors, such as field tractors or
tractors used in sugar beet fields, hmax can be greater than the given value. For
special purpose low ground clearance tractors, such as lawn or garden tractors,
narrow-track tractors, crawler tractors, hmin can be less than the given value.
