1 Scope
This Standard specifies the type and basic parameters, technical requirements, test methods,
inspection rules, marking, packaging and storage of belt conveyors (hereinafter referred to as
the conveyors).
This Standard is applicable to conveyors conveying bulk materials and finished articles.
For conveyors conveying toxic, harmful, flammable, explosive, highly corrosive and
radioactive materials, and conveyors with special requirements and types, the general parts may
also be taken as a reference.

3 Type and Basic Parameters
3.1 Type
A typical structure of the conveyors is shown in Figure 1.
3.2 Basic Parameters
3.2.1 Belt breadth
The belt breadth of the conveyors shall preferably adopt the numerical values specified in Table 1.
3.2.2 Nominal belt speed
The nominal belt speed of the conveyors shall preferably adopt the numerical values specified
in Table 2.
3.2.3 Pulley
3.2.4 Idler roller
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 Conditions of Operating Environment
4.1.1 The temperature of the operating environment of the conveyors is 25 C ~ + 40 C.
4.1.2 The operating altitude of the conveyors shall not exceed 1,000 m.
NOTE. when exceeding the above specified range, it shall be resolved through negotiation between
the user and the manufacturer.

4.6 Pulley
4.6.1 The minimum wall thickness b1 of the pulley body shall comply with the stipulations of
4.6.3 The quality classification limit of the defects of the pulley body and the welding seam of
the plate shall comply with the requirements of Level-B in GB/T 19418.When ultrasonic testing
is adopted, the inspection level shall not be lower than Level-B in GB/T 11345; the acceptance
inspection level shall comply with the requirements of Level-2 in GB/T 29712.Alternatively,
when radiographic inspection is adopted, its quality level shall not be lower than the
requirements of Level-2 in GB/T 3323.
4.6.4 The internal stress of the pulley body with the resultant force greater than 80 kN shall be
eliminated.
4.6.5 The diameter deviation of the outer circle of the pulley shall comply with the stipulations
of Table 8.
4.6.6 When the pulley is a rubber surface pulley, its rubber layer shall be firmly bonded to the
surface of the pulley, and there shall be no defects like delamination or foaming. The physical
and mechanical properties of the top rubber shall comply with the stipulations of Table 9.The
physical and mechanical properties of the primer shall comply with the stipulations of Table 10.
4.6.7 The non-destructive testing quality of the pulley shaft shall comply with the requirements
of quality level 3 of straight probes in GB/T 6402.In addition, it shall also comply with the
following conditions.
4.7 Idler Roller
4.7.1 The steel pipes for the idler roller shall not be lower than the requirements of GB/T 13793.
4.7.2 During the assembly of the idler roller, the bearing and sealing ring (labyrinth seal) shall
be filled with No.2 lithium-based lubricating grease whose performance is not lower than what
is specified in GB/T 7324.The grease filling amount of the bearing is 40% ~ 60% of the bearing
clearance; in a seriously polluted environment, the grease filling amount shall reach 75% ~ 80%;
the space between the sealing rings shall be full.
4.7.3 The radial circular runout of the outer circle of the idler roller shall comply with the
stipulations of Table 13.
4.7.4 After the idler is assembled, under the effect of 500 N axial pressure, the axial
displacement of the roller shall not exceed 0.7 mm.
4.8 Conveyor Belt
4.8.1 The sizes of the conveyor belt shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 4490.
4.8.2 In accordance with the service conditions, the selected conveyor belt shall comply with
the stipulations of the relevant standards, such as. GB/T 7984 and GB/T 9770, etc.
4.8.3 The vulcanized joints of the conveyor belt shall comply with GB/T 7984, GB/T 9770 and
the relevant stipulations of the conveyor belt industry.
4.9 Metal Structural Parts for the Conveyors
4.9.1 The material of the metal structural parts for the conveyors shall be selected with
mechanical properties not lower than Q235A in GB/T 700.
4.9.2 Ladders, railings and walking platforms shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 4053 and GB 14784.
4.9.3 The welding grooves of the metal structural parts shall comply with the stipulations of
GB/T 985.1 and GB/T 985.2.The welds shall be free from defects, such as. burn-through,
cracks and lac of fusion, etc.
4.9.4 The two corresponding planes, on which, the bearing seats are installed on the conveyor
head and tailstock shall be on the same plane; the flatness, the deviation of the corresponding
hole pitch on both sides of the bearing seat and the difference between the diagonal lengths
shall comply with the stipulations of Table 16.
4.9.5 The installation flatness of the horizontal idler shaft mounting hole axis of the idler bracket
and the base of the idler bracket shall not be greater than Level-10 accuracy of GB/T 1184.
4.9.6 The straightness of the middle frame of the conveyors is 1/1,000 of that of a single group
of middle frames, and the maximum shall not exceed 5 mm.
4.9.7 The outer surface of the conveyors’ hopper and guide chute, and other casings shall be
flat, and there shall be no obvious hammer marks or scars.

4.12 Assembly and Whole-machine Installation
4.12.2 The floating amplitude of the fulcrum floating drive device shall not be greater than 2.0 mm.
4.12.12 After the assembly of the take-up car, the inner and outer declination angles of the
tensioning steel rope and the centerline of the pulley rope groove and the vertical line of the
reel shaft shall be less than 6.
4.12.13 After the cleaner is installed, the contact length between its scraper or brush and the
conveyor belt in the direction of the pulley axis shall not be less than 85%.
4.12.14 The connection joint of the conveyor belt shall be flat and straight, and the straightness
on the 10 m length with the joint as the center shall not be greater than 15 mm.
5 Test Methods
5.1 Visual Inspection
Visual inspection includes whether the working condition of the whole machine and all
important parts satisfies the requirements, and whether the appearance quality, safety signs and
plates satisfy the technical requirements.

5.9 Static Equilibrium Test of Pulley Body
Place the pulley body on the cutting edge and adopt the conventional method to determine the
compensation mass; set it at an appropriate position of the receiving plate, until the rotational
equilibrium precision of the pulley complies with G40 in GB/T 9239.1.Alternatively, in
accordance with Formula (9), calculate the compensation mass P0; set it at 0.8 times the
diameter of the pulley on the circumference.
5.10 Non-destructing Testing of Pulley
5.12 Determination of Belt Speed
Use a speedometer to determine the surface speed of the conveyor belt. After conversion, the
speed is expressed in m/s.
5.13 Determination of Conveying Capacity
After the conveyor normally operates with full load, determine the actual belt speed, then, stop
the conveyor. Along the operating direction of the conveyor, minus the distance travelled by the
conveyor from the feeding point due to the inertial operation during the downtime,
5.14 Determination of Center Alignment Operation of Conveyor Belt
After the conveyor belt normally operates for at least 2 cycles, stop it; use a steel ruler to
determine the deviation of the conveyor belt and the side rollers of the idler group at any 3 sites.
Meanwhile, determine the deviation distance of the conveyor belt on the head pulley and the
tail pulley.
5.15 Testing of Paint Film Adhesion
The measurement method for paint film adhesion shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 9286.
6 Inspection Rules
6.1 General
The inspection of the conveyors is divided into exit-factory inspection and type inspection.
6.2 Exit-factory Inspection
Each conveyor can only be allowed to exit the factory after passing the inspection. See Table
19 for the exit-factory inspection items.
6.3 Type Inspection
6.3.1 Under one of the following circumstances, type inspection shall be carried out.
6.3.2 The type inspection items are shown in Table 19.
6.4 Sampling Method
6.4.1 The sampling scheme of the idler roller shall comply with the general inspection level II
in GB/T 2828.1; the acceptance quality limit of a single sampling scheme for normal inspection is AQL = 10.
6.4.2 From the conveyors, randomly choose 3 frames, then, in accordance with the requirements
of GB/T 9286, examine the paint film adhesion.
7 Marking, Packaging and Storage
7.1 Marking
7.1.1 Each conveyor shall have a product plate fixed at a prominent position on any head frame
where the drive pulley is installed, and the plate shall at least include the following contents.
7.1.2 The sizes and technical requirements of the plate shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 13306.
7.2 Packaging
7.2.1 Basic requirements
The packaging of the conveyors shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 13384.The pictorial
marking for handling of goods shall comply with the relevant stipulations of GB/T 191.
7.2.2 Packaging of parts
When placing the parts of the conveyors in the box, the center of gravity shall be as centered
and lower as possible. If the center of gravity is obviously high, corresponding balancing
measures shall be taken.
7.2.3 Idler
All idler rollers shall be packaged to prevent bumping; the brackets are allowed to be bundled
and shipped naked.
7.2.4 Pulley
Anti-rust and protective measures shall be taken on the shaft head of the drive pulley. Protective
measures shall be taken on the surface of the pulley. When the pulleys are separately shipped,
measures shall be taken to prevent the pulleys from rolling.
7.2.5 Tensioning device
7.2.6 Conveyor belt
The conveyor belt shall be neatly wound on the mandrel, and the outer covering shall be tightly
wrapped.
7.2.7 Accompanying documents
Before exiting the factory, each conveyor shall at least include the following accompanying documents.
7.3 Storage
7.3.1 Rainproof measures shall be taken for the storage of all parts of the conveyors. When
stored in the open air, the conveyors shall be packed in a well-ventilated and water-free package,
and shall be protected from rust when stored for a long time.
7.3.2 The idler pulleys should be sealed for storage. All structural parts shall be stored on a
covered and flat floor, so as to prevent deformation and corrosion.
