Hot-rolled round carbon steel bars for standard parts
1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This Standard stipulates the dimension, appearance, weight and allowable tolerance,
technical requirements, test method, inspection rules, package, marks and quality
certificates etc. of hot-rolled round carbon steel bars for screw, nut, bolt, and rivet.
This Standard is applicable to manufacturing the hot-rolled round carbon steel bars of cold
upsetting or hot upsetting’s screws, nuts, bolts and rivets.

3 Dimension, Appearance, Weight and Allowable Tolerance
3.1 Dimension, weight and allowable tolerance
3.2 Length
3.2.1 Generally, the length of the steel bar is 4-9 m.
3.2.2 The specified length of the steel bar shall be within the general length scale and
specified in the Contract; the allowable length tolerance is 600 mm.
3.2.3 According to requirements of the demander, the round steel bar with diameter of less
than 18 mm can be delivered in coil through agreement by both Parties. The minimum coil
weight is not less than 100 kg.
3.3 Appearance
3.4 Weight
The steel bar is delivered according to actual weight. Through agreement of both Parties,
the delivery according to the theoretical weight shall be specified in the Contract.
3.5 Marking example
The hot-rolled round carbon steel bar for Φ25 mm standard parts rolled by BL2 steel is
marked as.
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 Designation and chemical compositions
4.2 Smelting method
Steel is smelted by oxygen converter or open-hearth furnace.
4.3 Delivery state
After hot-rolling the round steel bar, water must not be sprayed; do not perform the
residual-heat quenching treatment; deliver in the state of hot-rolling.
4.4 Physical performance and process performance
4.4.2 The hot-rolled round carbon steel bars for standard parts shall perform the cold
upsetting test; if the Demander proposes, the hot upsetting test can also be conducted; its
requirement shall comply with provisions of Table 4.
4.4.3 According to the requirement of the Demander, it shall be specified in the Contract
that the hot-rolled round carbon steel bars for manufacturing rivet shall further perform the
rivet upsetting plane test under the cold state or the hot state according to provisions of
Table 4.
5 Test Method
The sampling method and the test method of every test of the round steel bar shall comply
with the provisions of Table 5.
6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Inspection and acceptance
Inspection and acceptance of the round steel bar are carried out by the technical
supervision department of the Supplier.
7 Package, Mark and Quality Certificate
7.1 The package requirement of the round steel shall comply with the provisions of the
category 2 of GB 2101.
7.2 The mark and the quality certificate of the round steel shall comply with the provisions
of GB 2101.
