1 Subject content and scope of application

This Standard specifies the equipment, test temperature, test procedure and test results for determination of nonvolatile content of adhesives. This Standard applies to adhesives that have obvious mass loss when heated to volatilize.

2 Principle

The nonvolatile content of adhesives is determined by heating the sample at a certain temperature for a certain period of time, and it is expressed as a percentage of the mass of the sample after heating and the mass of the sample before heating.

3 Equipment

3.1 Constant temperature blast oven. the temperature fluctuation is not more than ±2 °C. 3.2 Thermometer. 0 ~ 150 °C, the division value is 1 °C. 3.3 Weighing container. a weighing bottle or aluminum foil dish with a diameter of 50 mm and a side height of 30 mm.

4 Test temperature, test duration and sampling volume

4.1 Amino-based resin adhesives. the test temperature is 105 ± 2 °C, the test duration is 180 ± 5 min, and the sampling volume is 1.5 g.

5 Test procedure

WEIGH the adhesive sample as required, accurate to 0.001 g; PLACE it in a container that has been made to constant weight and weighed at the test temperature;

The nonvolatile content is calculated as follows.
