This document specifies the requirements for the graphic symbols for controls, indicators, and tell-tales for all-terrain vehicles, as well as the colors of light tell-tales. This document applies to all-terrain vehicles (hereinafter referred to as “vehicles”).2 Normative references

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Control A component used by a driver to change the working condition or function of the vehicle or a device of the vehicle. 3.2 Indicator A device that displays the working conditions of a vehicle and its components with the magnitude of physical characteristics (such as scale values or numbers). 3.3 Tell-tale An indicating device for displaying the functional status of the vehicle and/or its components by means of light and/or acoustic signals.4 Requirements
4.1 The positions of graphic symbols and tell-tales shall ensure that the driver sitting in the normal operating position can observe and recognize them. 4.2 If the internal combustion engine type all-terrain vehicle is equipped with the controls, indicators, and tell-tales listed in 5.1, the corresponding graphic symbols shall be marked and shall comply with the provisions of 5.1. 4.3 If the electric all-terrain vehicle is equipped with the controls, indicators, and tell- tales listed in 5.2, the corresponding graphic symbols shall be marked and shall comply with the provisions of 5.2. 4.4 The positions of the graphic symbols and tell-tales shall be placed on or near the corresponding controls, indicators, and tell-tales; otherwise, a short solid line shall be used between the graphic symbols and the corresponding controls, indicators, or tell- tales to indicate their interrelation, and to ensure the driver sitting in the normal operating position can observe and recognize them. 4.5 The graphic symbols on the controls and tell-tales shall have a clear contrast with the background color, so as to be eye-catching. If a coating (plating) layer is used, it shall be able to be permanently kept; otherwise, it shall be made by moulding or engraving. 4.6 If a graphic symbol represents a vehicle or a vehicle component in a side view, it shall be assumed that the vehicle travels from right to left. 4.7 The color requirements for the light tell-tales are as follows: a) Red indicates danger; b) Yellow or amber indicates a warning; c) Green indicates safety; d) Blue is only used for the color of the headlight’s high beam tell-tale.5 Graphic symbols
