Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for Standardization - Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents. This document is Part 1 of GB/T 2099 Plugs and Socket-outlets for Household and Similar Purposes. GB/T 2099 has issued the following parts. ---Part 1.General Requirements; ---Part 2.Particular Requirements.  particular requirements for socket-outlets for appliances;  particular requirements for converts;  particular requirements for switched socket-outlets without interlock for fixed installations;  particular requirements for switched socket-outlets with interlock for fixed installations;  particular requirements for fused plugs;  particular requirements for cord extension sets;  particular requirements for plugs and socket-outlets for SELV;  particular requirements for socket-outlets for information. This document serves as a replacement of GB/T 2099.1-2008 Plugs and Socket-outlets for Household and Similar Purposes - Part 1.General Requirements. In comparison with GB/T 2099.1-2008, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, the main technical changes are as follows. --The ambient temperature of product use is modified (see Chapter 1; Chapter 1 of Version 2008); ---Some normative references are modified (see Chapter 2; Chapter 2 of Version 2008); ---The definitions of 3.1 plug, 3.2 socket-outlet, 3.4 portable socket-outlet, 3.16 screw- type terminal, 3.33 main part are modified; the definitions of 3.34 grommet, 3.35 entry membrane, 3.36 protecting membrane, 3.37 tool are added; in accordance with GB/T 2099.2-2012, the definition of 3.6 is modified (see Chapter 3; Chapter 3 of Version 2008); ---The torque applied to the fixing screws of terminals, covers and cover plates is added (see 5.2); ---The preferred combinations of types and ratings are modified; NOTE 1 is modified; NOTE 2 and NOTE 3 are added (see Table 1; Table 1 of Version 2008); ---6.3 of GB/T 2099.1-2008 is deleted (see 6.3 of Version 2008); ---The accessories classification in accordance with GB/T 4208-2017 is modified in 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 (see 7.1.1 and 7.1.2; 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 of Version 2008); ---The phrase “main part” is deleted from the NOTE in 7.2.4 (see 7.2.4 of Version 2008); ---The classification of plugs for Class 0 equipment is deleted (see 7.3 of Version 2008); ---The requirements for “symbols of neutral pole, earthed pole and live pole” are deleted; the requirements for the degree of protection of fixed socket-outlets are added; the requirements of marking the serial No. of this Part are added (see 8.1 of Version 2008); ---The marking requirements that screwless terminals are only suitable for connecting rigid conductors are added (see 8.3); ---The marking requirements for products with an IP code are modified (see 8.6; 8.6 of Version 2008); ---The conditions for the visual inspection of the markings are added; the test method of rubbing the markings is modified (see 8.8); ---The expression “the existing plug of the present national system” is added; the requirements for plugs for Class 0 equipment are deleted (see 9.2); ---The first paragraph of 10.1 clarifies the requirements for fixed socket-outlets, plugs when engaged and portable socket-outlets; the description of checking the “partial engagement of the plug” is deleted from the second paragraph (see 10.1; 10.1 of Version 2008); ---The “base” is modified into “main part” (see 10.2, 13.7, 17.2.1, Chapter 24, 26.1 and Table 24; 10.2, 13.7, 17.2.1, Chapter 24, 26.1 and Table 24 of Version 2008); ---“metal cover and cover plate” is modified into “accessible metal part” (see 10.2.3; 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 of Version 2008); ---The test and inspection of 10.2 is added (see 10.4); ---The design requirements for the shutters are added; shutters shall be so designed that a plug is inserted with the same movement in a socket-outlet with shutters as in a socket- outlet without shutters (see 10.5); ---In accordance with the structural characteristics of Chinese socket-outlets, the test method is deleted (see 10.6 of Version 2008); ---The requirements for the protection against electric shock of socket-outlets with or without lid are clarified; the NOTE of socket-outlets without a shutter is added (see 10.7); ---The description of additional external earthing terminals for the fixed socket-outlets is deleted (see 11.2 of Version 2008); ---The current and type of accessories are modified (see Table 3; Table 3 of Version 2008); ---“during wire insertion” is deleted after the first dash of 12.3.7, and “during the connection” is added after the second dash (see 12.3.7 of Version 2008); ---The measurement cycle of voltage drop of screwless terminals is modified in 12.3.11 b) (see 12.3.11; 12.3.11 of Version 2008); ---The requirements for the parts of socket contact assemblies are added (see 13.1); ---The material and test requirements for the socket contact are added (see 13.2); ---The structural requirements for the socket-outlets are added, and the test method for the connection and / or disconnection device of the screwless terminals is added (see 13.4); ---The situation that drain holes and small gaps are neglected provided they do not compromise the declared IP rating is clarified (see 13.9); ---“IPX4 and IPX5” is modified into “IPX4 to IPX6” (see 13.16; 13.16 of Version 2008); ---The requirements for the contacts are modified (see 13.18; 13.18 of Version 2008); ---The parameters. rated current and nominal cross-sectional areas of conductors are modified (see Table 14; Table 14 of Version 2008); ---The requirements for the pins and contacts of portable accessories are added (see 14.3); ---It is clarified that this clause is a requirement for rewireable portable socket-outlets; the requirements for phase socket-outlets are added (see 14.4); ---The material and test requirements for socket-contacts and pins are added (see 14.6); ---The requirements for components incorporated in accessories are added (see 14.22); ---The requirements for rewireable portable socket-outlets after their rear part has been fixed are added (see 14.26); ---The test conditions for accessories having a lid are modified and improved (see 16.1; 16.1 of Version 2008); ---The requirements for accessories with 6 as the first characteristic numeral are added (see 16.2.2.3); ---The method and requirements for the temperature rise test in Chapter 19 are modified (see Chapter 19; Chapter 19 of Version 2008); ---The NOTE of the dimensions of connecting cables for portable socket-outlets is added to Table 17 and Table 19 (see Table 17 and Table 19); ---Flexible cable with a larger cross-sectional area is added to the last column of Table 18 (see Table 18); ---In accordance with the characteristics of the Chinese flat pin system, the test requirements for the pull-out force of foreign plug products are deleted (see Chapter 22 of Version 2008); ---The description that non-rewireable plugs and non-rewireable portable socket-outlets shall be provided with a flexible cable comply with GB/T 5023 and GB/T 5013 is added (see 23.3); ---The description of the pendulum impact test equipment is deleted and modified into the direct reference to the content of GB/T 2423.55 (test EHA); the height of fall in Table 21 is modified (see 24.2; 24.1 of Version 2008); ---The standard of the test method of 24.3 is modified from GB/T 2423.8 into GB/T 2423.7; the drop test requirements for plugs with insulating sheath pins are added; the test requirements for the shutters are put forward (see 24.3; 24.2 of Version 2008); ---The test requirements for the shutters are put forward in 24.9 (see 24.9); ---The stipulations for the round pins for converters are deleted (see 24.10 of Version 2008); ---It is modified in the NOTE of 25.3 that the specimen shall be after the aging test (see 25.3; 25.2 of Version 2008); ---It is added that screws and nuts transmitting contact pressure shall be made of metal (see 26.1); ---The NOTE of 26.5 is modified into NOTE 1, and the IPX6 requirements are added (see 26.5; Figure 15 of Version 2008); ---The force value provided in GB/T 2099.1-2008 is deleted from Figure 16 (see Figure 16 of Version 2008); ---Figure 22 ~ Figure 25 is modified into blank (see Figure 22 ~ Figure 25); ---The NOTE of “load a” and “load b” is supplemented in Figure 41 (see Figure 41); ---In accordance with the position of plugs and pins in China, the position of the spatial arrangement of welded power cables is adjusted in Figure 44 (see Figure 44; Figure 44 of Version 2008); ---Figure 45 and Figure 46 are added (see Figure 45 and Figure 46); ---The quantity required for the test is modified in Appendix B (see Appendix B; Appendix B of Version 2008); ---The normative appendix D switches mounted on portable socket-outlets is added (see Appendix D). This document adopts the re-drafting method for the modification and adoption of IEC 60884- 1.2013 Plugs and Socket-outlets for Household and Similar Purposes - Part 1.General Requirements. In comparison with IEC 60884-1.2013, this document has some structural adjustments. In order to avoid suspended paragraphs, the numbering of clauses 10.2, 14.10, 14.23, Chapter 17, Chapter 19, Chapter 22, Chapter 24, Chapter 25, 28.1 and Chapter 30 is adjusted; due to the existence of second-level clauses, the clause titles of the first-level clauses in Chapter 10, Chapter 13, Chapter 14 and Chapter 24 are added. The technical differences between this document and IEC 60884-1.2013, and the causes for these differences are as follows. ---In terms of Normative References, this document makes adjustments with technical differences, so as to adapt to the technical conditions of China. The adjustments are intensively reflected in Chapter 2 “Normative References”. See the specific adjustments below.  GB/T 2423.4, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60668-2-30;  GB/T 2423.7, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60668-2-31;  GB/T 2423.55, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60668-2-75;  GB/T 2900.83, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60050-151.2001;  GB/T 4207, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60112.1979;  GB/T 4208-2017, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60529.2001;  GB/T 5013 (all parts), which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60245 (all parts);  GB/T 5023 (all parts), which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60227 (all parts);  GB/T 5169.10, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60695-2-10.2000;  GB/T 5169.11, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60695-2-11.2000;  GB/T 5465.2, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60417;  GB/T 15092 (all parts), which modifies using international standard, is used to replace IEC 61058 (all parts);  GB/T 15092.1, which modifies using international standard, is used to replace IEC 61058-1;  GB/T 16915 (all parts), which modifies using international standard, is used to replace IEC 60669 (all parts);  GB/T 17045, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 61140.2001;  GB/T 17194-1997, which non-equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60423.1993;  GB/T 20002.4, which modifies using international standard, is used to replace ISO/IEC guideline 51;  In accordance with the references, GB/T 1002 is added;  In accordance with the references, GB/T 1003 is added. ---In accordance with the actual voltage and current of Chinese plugs and socket-outlets, Table 1 is modified, and 130 V and 13 A are deleted; 13 A is deleted from Table 10; ---In accordance with the types and dimensions of Chinese plugs and socket-outlets, “Single-phase plugs and socket-outlets shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 1002.Three-phase plugs and socket-outlets shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 1003” is added to Chapter 9; ---Considering that the domestic three-phase plug and socket-outlet system in China has a class of rated current 25 A, in the relevant clauses and tables, the relevant contents and requirements for electrical accessories with a rated current of 25 A are added; ---Considering that the domestic plugs and socket-outlets in China are a flat pin system, in the relevant clauses of Chapter 9 checking of dimensions, 24.3, 24.11 and Figure 30, the inspection specified for the domestic plug and socket-outlet system of China is added, and the tolerances of gauges used for the dimension inspection are modified; ---In accordance with the characteristics of the flat plug and pin system of China, and the regulations of foreign flat plug and pin systems, the description of “partial engagement” inspection in the second paragraph of 10.1 is deleted; ---In accordance with the types of Chinese socket-outlets, the description of the pin in the fixed socket-outlets is deleted from 13.2; ---Clauses 9.2 and 10.1 stipulate that for electrical accessories using thermoplastic materials or elastic materials, additional tests shall be carried out at an ambient temperature of (35  2) C. Considering the severe ambient temperatures in China, “(35  2) C” is modified into “(40  2) C”; ---In accordance with the structural characteristics of Chinese socket-outlets, the test method is deleted from 10.6; the additional specimen required for the test in 10.6 is deleted from Appendix B; ---In accordance with the types and parameters of Chinese plugs and socket-outlets, the current and type of electrical accessories in Table 3 are modified; ---In accordance with the actual structure of the products, 14.4 clarifies that this clause is a requirement for the rewireable portable socket-outlets; ---16.3 stipulates. “The air temperature (of the humidity cabinet) shall be maintained at any convenient value t  1 K between 20 C ~ 30 C. Before placing the specimen in the humidity cabinet, the temperature of the specimen shall be brought to t ~ (t + 4) C.” Considering that some areas of China are in humid tropical climate, and all electrical and electronic products in China adopt (40  2) C for the damp heat test, this part stipulates. “The air temperature where the specimens are placed shall be maintained at (40  2) C. Before placing the specimens into the humidity cabinet, the specimens shall reach this temperature.” This stipulation is consistent with the severity level adopted in GB/T 2423.4 formulated through the modification of IEC 60068-2-30; ---19.3 modifies the temperature rise test of multiple socket-outlets with common wiring terminals; ---The test items in Chapter 20, Chapter 21 and Chapter 22 that are not applicable to the Chinese plugs and socket-outlets are deleted; ---In Chapter 22, in accordance with the characteristics of the Chinese flat pin system, the test requirements for the pull-out force of foreign plug products are deleted; ---In accordance with the actual wiring of non-rewireable plugs and non-rewireable portable socket-outlets in China, the description of the equipped flexible cables required in the Chinese standards on wires is added to 23.3; ---In Table 20, the columns of current and voltage levels not applicable to the Chinese plugs and socket-outlets are deleted; the rated value “25 A 440 V” and its corresponding parameters are added; ---The drop test requirements for plugs with insulating sheath pins are added to 24.3; ---In Figure 44, in accordance with the position of Chinese plugs and pins, the position of the spatial arrangement of welded power cables is adjusted. This document also makes the following editorial modifications. ---In accordance with the relevant stipulations of GB/T 1.1-2020, “this document specifies the technical requirements for the marking, electric-shock protection, structure, electrical performance and mechanical performance of plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes” is supplemented in Chapter 1 “Scope”; ---The NOTEs not applicable to China are deleted from IEC 60884-1 (such as. the NOTEs of 6.1, 7.1.5, 7.2.2, 10.7, 13.23, 14.4, 14.21, 14.26, NOTE 4 of 8.34, NOTE 2 of 10.2.3, NOTE 2 of 10.3, NOTE 4 of 16.2.2, NOTE 7 of 19, NOTE 4 of Table 20 and NOTE of 28.2); ---The column entries in 13.7.3 are modified into alphabetic columns, so as to facilitate the reference in the newly added clause titles of Chapter 24. 1 Scope

This document specifies the technical requirements for the marking, electric-shock protection, structure, electrical performance and mechanical performance of plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes.

3 Definitions

If one specimen does not satisfy a test due to an assembly or a manufacturing fault, that test and any preceding one which may have influenced the results of the test shall be repeated, and also the tests which follow shall be made in the required sequence on another full set of specimens, all of which shall comply with the requirements.
