This document specifies the classification and designation, requirements, inspection rules, marking and accompanying documentation, packaging, transportation and storage of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin (hereinafter referred to as the “ABS resin”), and describes the corresponding test methods. This document is applicable to acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene materials, primarily composed of styrene (and/or substituted styrene) and acrylonitrile copolymers as the continuous phase, and polybutadiene and other components in specified quantities as the dispersed phase. This document is not applicable to flame-retardant, reinforced, or otherwise modified ABS resins.2 Normative References

This document contains no terms or definitions that require clarification.4 Classification and Designation
The classification and designation of ABS resin shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 20417.1. NOTE. See Appendix A for a comparison of the designation of ABS resin with the enterprise’s trade name.5 Requirements
5.1 For ABS resin with food safety requirements, it shall comply with the provisions of GB 4806.7. 5.2 ABS resin shall be natural-colored granules, free of impurities. 5.3 Other technical requirements for ABS resin shall comply with the provisions of Table 1. Table 1 -- Other Technical Requirements for ABS Resin Serial No. Items Units General-purpose grade Injection moulding grade Extrusion grade6 Test Methods
6.1 Preparation of Injection Moulded Test Specimens Prepare the injection moulded test specimens of ABS resin according to the provisions of GB/T 20417.2.Before moulding, spread the ABS resin material in an enamel tray to a thickness of less than 3 cm, then place it in a blast drying oven and dry at a temperature of 80°C±5°C for at least 2 h. Test specimens shall be prepared using GB/ISO moulds conforming to GB/T 17037.1.Unless otherwise specified, the test specimen type and dimensions shall conform to the following. a) Tests of the tensile modulus of elasticity and tensile yield stress. Type A1 multipurpose test specimens conforming to GB/T 37426; b) Tests of the flexural modulus, flexural stress at specified deflection, and Charpy notched impact strength. Type B1 80 mm×10 mm×4 mm strip test specimens conforming to GB/T 37426; c) Vicat softening temperature test. 20 mm×20 mm×4 mm test specimens conforming to GB/T 19467.1; d) Rockwell hardness test. 50 mm×50 mm×6 mm test specimens conforming to GB/T 19467.1; e) Tests of the yellowness index and moulding shrinkage. Type D12 60 mm×60 mm×2 mm test specimens conforming to GB/T 37426. NOTE. Using the GB/ISO moulds specified in GB/T 17037 (all parts) and the injection moulding conditions specified in GB/T 20417.2 to prepare the test specimens conforming to the test specimen types and dimensions specified in GB/T 37426 and GB/T 19467.1 and conducting tests is the basis for obtaining comparable data. It is necessary to record and report any deviations from the test specimen preparation in the test report. 6.2 Standard Atmospheres for Conditioning and Testing of Test Specimens Condition the test specimens according to the provisions of GB/T 2918.Conditioning conditions are as follows. Temperature. 23°C±2°C, relative humidity. (50±10%), for at least 16 h. All tests shall be conducted under the standard atmospheres specified in GB/T 2918. Temperature. 23°C±2°C, relative humidity. (50±10)%. 6.3 Granular Appearance The test shall be conducted according to the provisions of SH/T 1541.1. 6.4 Melt Mass-flow Rate Before testing, the test specimens shall be dried at 80°C±2°C for 4 h and stored in a desiccator under standard atmospheres. ......Source: Above contents are excerpted from the full-copy PDF -- translated/reviewed by: www.ChineseStandard.net / Wayne Zheng et al.
