1 Scope

This Part specifies the indoor test method for the static stiffness of fastening assemblies. This Part applies to high-speed railway fastener systems.

2 Symbols

The following symbols apply to this document. F1: The minimum load applied to the tested fastener system, in kilonewtons (kN); F2: The maximum load applied to the tested fastener system, in kilonewtons (kN); D1: The displacement of the rail when loaded to F1, in millimeters (mm); D2: The displacement of the rail when loaded to F2, in millimeters (mm); KSTA: Assembly static stiffness, in kilonewtons per millimeter (kN/mm).

3 Principles

Apply a load, which is perpendicular to the bottom surface of the rail, to the rail (assembled on a single bearing surface) with the fastener system assembled by the testing machine, to determine the displacement of the rail, as relative to the sleeper, under the load.

4 Test equipment

4.1 Steel rail A segment of short steel rail, which has a length of about 0.5 m, the section of which is the same as the section of the steel rail used for the tested fastening assembly or assembly fatigue performance test. The steel rail shall be free of peeling and rust on the surface. 4.2 Loading device A device, which has a loading rate of 2 kN/s ~ 6 kN/s, a static loading reaching up to 110 kN, is used to apply vertical load to the rail surface. 4.3 Displacement sensor The instrument for measuring the vertical displacement of the rail, as relative to the sleeper, which has an indication error of 0.01 mm. 4.4 Load sensor An instrument for measuring the load, which is applied to the rail; it has an accuracy grade of 0.5. 4.5 Recording device A device, that can perform digital recording and draw a load-displacement curve, during the test. It has a sampling frequency of not less than 50 Hz.

5 Test pieces

5.1 Sleeper Sleepers, 1/2 sleepers or slab track units with embedded fasteners or reserved bolt holes (all described as sleepers in this test method). The bearing surfaces of the sleepers shall not be reconditioned for testing. 5.2 Fasteners Complete set of fasteners including all parts.

6 Test steps

6.1 Test temperature The test shall be carried out in a room, which has an ambient temperature of 23 °C ± 5 °C. Before the test, all the fastener components used for the test shall be kept at the above temperature environment, for not less than 24 h. 6.2 Test preparation Fix the rail on the sleeper, by the use of fasteners, according to the standard assembly state. Put the sleeper on the rigid foundation. Apply a load, which is perpendicular to the bottom surface of the rail, on the top surface of the rail. Arrange four displacement sensors, symmetrically at the four corners of the rail, to measure the vertical ......
