This Standard was developed to meet the needs of good fit and interchangeability between scalpel handles and detachable blades. This Standard corresponds to ISO 7740.1985 “Instruments for surgery - Scalpels with detachable blades - Fitting dimensions”. This standard is equivalent to ISO 7740.1985. Compared with ISO 7740.1985, the following editorial modifications are made in this Standard. - Change “this International Standard” to “this Standard”; - Change the letters of relevant dimensions in Table 1, Table 2, Figure 1 and Figure 2. This Standard replaces GB 8662-1988 “Fitting dimension between knife blades and knife handles”. The main differences between this Standard and GB 8662-1988 are as follows. - Use Figure 1 in ISO 7740.1985; - Add the note in Figure 1. This Standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Surgical Instruments of Standardization Administration of China.
