This code is not applicable to design of foam extinguishing system installed for shipbuilding, offshore petroleum platform etc. places. 1.0.3 Foam extinguishing system shall not be used for places including the following sustances: 1 Chemical sustances and strong oxidation agent which netrocelluose~ explosion etc. still can be oxidated rapidly without air environment; 2 Active metal and chemical substance which potassium, sodium, aluminium alky, phosphoric anhydride etc. have chemical reaction when meeting water; 1.0.4 Design of foam extinguishing systems shall not only comply with those specified in this code, but also comply with requirements in the related national current standards.2 Terms
2.1 General Terms 2.1.1 Foam concentrate Concentrate liquid which may form foam solution by proper concentration ratio mixed with water. 2.1.2 Foam solution Foam solution which is prepared by foam concentrate and water in specific concentration. 2.1.3 Concentration Volumn pensent (%)which foam concentrate accounts in foam solution. 2.1.4 Premixed foam solution Premixed foam solution which is pre-prepared by foam concentrate and water m specific concentration and is stored for use. 2.1.5 Foam expansion ratio Ratio value which is foam volumn and formed this foam solution volumn. 2.1.6 Low-expansion foam Extinguishing foam which foam expansion ratio is less than 20. 2.1.7 Medium-expansion foam Extinguishing foam which foam expansion ratio is 20-200. 2.1.8 High-expansion foam Extinguishing foam which foam expansion ratio is higher than 200. 2.1.9 Application rate (density) Foam solution or water supply rate in unit time and unit area, expressed in L/(min · m2). 2.1.10 Fixed system Extinguishing system is made from fixed foam system water supply pump or foam solution supply pump, foam propmiioning tank, foam generator (or nozzle) and piping etc .. 2.1.11 Semi-fixed system Extinguishing system which is made from fixed foam generator and part connected piping, foam fire trunk or potable fire pump by connection of hose. 2.1.12 Mobile system Extinguishing system whish is made from fire trunk, potable fire pump or supply water with pressure, foam proportioner, foam fire branch, foam monitor or mobile foam generator by connection of hose. 2.1.24 Foam station Foam system water supply pump or foam solution supply pump is not included, and Place where only foam proportioning set, foam concentrate tank etc. are installed. 2.2 Terms of Low-expansion Foam Extinguishing System 2.2.1 Surface application system Extinguishing system which foam is injected into protected tank from foam concentrate surface. 2.2.2 Subsurface injection system Extinguishing system which foam 1s injected into protected tank from foam concentrate subsurface. 2.2.3 Semi-subsurface injection system Extinguishing system which foam is injected into from bottom of tank, and floated to combustible liquid surface through soft hose to make injection 2.2.4 Foam maker in horizontal position Foam maker which is installed at horizontal position in A, B, C liquid vertical tank. 2.2.5 Foam maker in standing position Foam maker which is installed at plumb on wall of A, B, C, liquid vertical tank. 2.2.6 High back-pressure foam maker Device which foam solution with pressure can suck in air when passing and produces low- expansion foam, and outlet has certain pressure (gauge pressure). 2.2.7 Foam guiding cover Device which can make foam flow downward along tank wall, installed in top of external floating roof tank wall and prevent foam from flowing loss. 2.3 Terms of Medium and High-expansion Foam Extinguishing System 2.3.1 Total flooding system Extinguishing system which foam is injected to closed or enclosed protective area by fixed foam discharge device and reach the foam flooding depth in specified time. 2.3.2 Local application system Extinguishing system which foam is injected to fire hazard postion by fixed foam generator direct or through foam distribution duct. 2.3.3 Enclosure Space which is enclosed by difficult-flammble object or non-flammble object. 2.3.4 Foam application rate ......Source: Above contents are excerpted from the full-copy PDF -- translated/reviewed by: www.ChineseStandard.net / Wayne Zheng et al.
