1 Scope

This standard specifies methods for determining the capillary effect of textiles using digital instruments. This standard applies to the determination of the capillary effect of woven fabrics and their textile products. This standard does not apply to filaments, yarns, ropes, staple fibers.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Capillary effect One end of the textile material is wetted by the liquid, and the liquid is transported along the capillary along the textile material. 3.2 Liquid wicking height liquidwickingheight The measure of the capillary effect of the test material, that is, when one end of the vertically suspended textile material is wetted by the liquid, the liquid acts through the capillary, in one The height of the rise along the textile material over a given period of time. 3.3 Liquid wicking rate liquidwickingrate The measure of the capillary effect of the test material, that is, the liquid wicking height achieved by the liquid through capillary action and on the textile material per unit time.

4 Principle

The sample is suspended vertically in the instrument, one end of which is immersed in the liquid, and the image collected by the camera is wet-transferred, and the image is pre-processed. After processing, the image information is converted into gray value, and the water trace area and the dry area of the fabric liquid water transfer image are initially separated, and then subjected to image segmentation, After the morphological processing of the image, the number of pixels corresponding to the watermark area is counted, the wicking height value of the fabric is calculated, and the time-liquid is utilized. The body rise height curve finds the wicking rate at a certain time.
