This document specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, user manuals and marks, accompanying documents, transportation and storage of ambulances. This document applies to ambulances that are modified from pre-designed complete vehicles or pre-designed vehicle chassis.2 Normative references

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 17350 as well as the followings apply. 3.1 patient transport ambulance Equipped with a medical cabin and basic medical care facilities, it is an ambulance mainly used to transport non-critical patients. 3.2 emergency ambulance An ambulance equipped with a medical cabin and basic medical care facilities, as well as emergency and monitoring facilities, capable of treating, monitoring, and transporting critically ill patients. 3.3 infection prevention ambulance An ambulance equipped with medical cabins and facilities such as negative pressure, disinfection, and protective isolation, used for the treatment, monitoring, and transfer of patients with infectious diseases.4 Classification
Ambulances are classified into three categories based on their function and purpose. See Table 1 for the classification.5 Requirements
5.1 Overall requirements 5.1.1 Ambulances shall conform to the requirements of this document. They shall be manufactured in accordance with product drawings and technical documents approved according to the manufacturer's prescribed procedures. 5.1.2 Purchased or outsourced parts must comply with relevant standards and have a certificate of conformity from the manufacturer. They can only be used after passing inspection. All self-made parts can only be assembled after passing inspection. 5.2 Vehicle requirements 5.2.1 The external dimensions, axle load, and mass limits of ambulances shall comply with the relevant provisions of GB 1589. 5.2.2 The operational safety requirements for ambulances shall comply with the provisions of GB 7258. 5.2.3 The external lighting and light signaling devices of ambulances shall comply with the provisions of GB 4785.The sirens installed and used in ambulances shall comply with the provisions of GB 8108.The warning signs and lights installed and used shall comply with the provisions of GB 13954.Sirens and warning lights shall be securely fixed. 5.2.4 The interior components of the medical cabin, such as seat fabrics, headliners, floor coverings, and side panel coverings, shall use flame-retardant materials and comply with the requirements of GB 38262. 5.2.5 Ambulances shall be able to operate normally in environments below 3500 m altitude and with temperatures ranging from -40°C~45°C. 5.2.6 The main color of the ambulance shall be white. The national medical institution logo conforming to WS 307 shall be painted on the left, right sides and the center of the rear of the vehicle. 5.2.7 All exposed metal parts on the surface of the ambulance shall be treated with anti- corrosion and anti-rust measures. The body coating shall comply with the provisions of QC/T 484. 5.2.8 The rainproof sealing of ambulances shall comply with the requirements of QC/T 476 for small and medium-sized passenger vehicles. 5.2.9 The maximum speed of an ambulance shall not be less than 100 km/h. 5.2.10 The time required for a vehicle to accelerate from 0 km/h to 80 km/h shall not exceed 35 s. 5.2.11 Ambulances shall be equipped with a Class 1 anti-lock braking system (ABS) conforming to GB/T 13594.An electronic stability control system shall also be installed. 5.2.12 Ambulances shall be equipped with suitable fire extinguishers in both the driver's cab and the medical cabin. The fire extinguishers shall be placed near the driver's cab door and the medical cabin door, respectively. They shall be securely installed and easily accessible. The capacity of a single fire extinguisher shall not be less than 1 kg. 5.2.13 When the ambulance is traveling at 120 km/h (or the maximum speed if it is less than 120 km/h), the noise level inside the medical cabin must not exceed 77 dB(A). 5.3 Ambulance medical cabin 5.3.1 General requirements 5.3.1.1 Ambulances use partitions to divide the front and rear of the vehicle into two areas. the driver's cab and the medical cabin. 5.3.1.2 Observation windows shall be provided on the partition. The location of the observation window shall facilitate the driver's observation of the medical cabin. The glass of the observation window shall comply with GB 9656.The observation window shall preferably be sliding and equipped with adjustable curtains. The opening area of the observation window shall not exceed 0.12 m². The partition must be installed in a sealed manner. The partition and observation window shall not emit any abnormal noises when the vehicle is in motion. The installation location shall not interfere with vehicle maintenance. The observation windows of protective ambulances shall be fully enclosed, with no possible ventilation gaps. 5.3.1.3 The interior components of the medical cabin, such as the roof and side panels, shall be securely connected to the ambulance's body structure to form a well-sealed integrated structure. They shall also possess good waterproofing, heat insulation, and noise reduction capabilities. The roof and side panels of the medical cabin shall be rationally designed for easy operation and maintenance, and integrate functions such as lighting, storage, ventilation, air purification, sterilization, intravenous infusion, and safety handrails. 5.3.1.4 The medical cabin shall be equipped with medicine cabinets or storage cabinets for storing emergency medical supplies and consumables.
