1 Scope

This document specifies the principle of the method for determining hydrogen in solid biomass fuels by the electrical method and carbon in solid biomass fuels by the gravimetric method. Reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, experimental preparation, experimental steps, calculation of results and precision of methods, etc. This document applies to solid biomass fuels.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 21923, GB/T 28730 and the following apply to this document. 3.1 Solid biomass fuel solid biofuel Solid fuels produced directly or indirectly from biomass. 3.2 general analysis sample Solids crushed to a particle size of 1 mm or less and air-dried for most physical and chemical characterizations Biomass fuel samples.

4 Principles of the method

A certain amount of solid biomass fuel sample is burned in an oxygen flow, and the generated water reacts with phosphorus pentoxide to form metaphosphoric acid. The metaphosphoric acid is electrolyzed. The hydrogen content in the solid biomass fuel is calculated based on the amount of electricity consumed by electrolysis; the generated carbon dioxide is absorbed by the carbon dioxide absorbent, and the amount of hydrogen in the solid biomass fuel is calculated based on the amount of electricity consumed by electrolysis. The carbon content in the solid biomass fuel is calculated by collecting the weight increment of the collecting agent. The sulfur oxides and chlorine generated after the sample is burned are treated with the pyrolysis products of silver permanganate. Nitrogen oxides are removed using granular manganese dioxide to eliminate their interference with carbon determination.
