| Summary | This standard specifies analytical methods for the determination of total carbon, total hydrogen and total nitrogen in petroleum products and lubricants using elemental analyzers. The method A, Method B, Method c and Method D are included. This standard applies to the determination of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen in samples of crude oil, fuel oil, additives and residual oil. This standard does not apply to the determination of light oil and/or nitrogen content of less than 0.75%, such as: gasoline, jet fuel, naphtha, diesel or chemical solvents; this standard does not apply to volatile oils. Determination of, for example, gasoline, blended gasoline with oxygenates or aviation turbine fuels of the gasoline type. The quality fraction of this standard is: carbon content of 75% to 87%, hydrogen content of 9% to 16%, and nitrogen content of 0.1% to 2%. Method D minimum detectable lubricant |
