| Summary | This standard specifies the method for assessing the oil bearing performance, wear resistance and extreme pressure performance of vehicle gears using a hypoid gear-driven axle under conditions of low speed and high torque. This test method is commonly referred to as the L-37 test. This standard applies to the assessment of vehicle gear oil bearing, anti-wear and extreme pressure performance. This standard also provides procedures for operating the L-37 Canadian cryogenic test. The L-37 transaxle Canada cryogenic test procedure is identical to the standard L-37 test procedure, except for the entries specified in Appendix D.2. The modification procedure listed in Appendix D.2 applies to the corresponding section of the L-37 standard test method. |
