Rubber and plastic hoses and hose assemblies terminology
1.Scope
This document defines the terminology used in the hose industry.
Recommended terms for the conductivity and resistance of rubber and plastic hoses and hose assemblies are given in Annex A of ISO 8031.2020.

3.Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 General
3.1.1
hose
A flexible tube consisting of an inner lining (3.3.2), a reinforcing layer (3.4.1), and usually an outer cladding (3.3.6).
3.1.2
Hose assembly
A hose (3.1.1) with a hose fitting (3.6.4.1) at one or both ends.
3.1.3
Hydraulic hose hydraulichose
A hose (3.1.1) with a braided or wound reinforcing layer (3.4.1) is designed for systems that transmit power in fluid under pressure.
3.1.4
Unreinforced tubing
Flexible polymer tube without reinforcement layer (3.4.1).
3.1.5
Operating conditions
Hose (assemblies) may be subjected to pressure, temperature, operation and environment (including the fluid being conveyed).
3.1.6
compound
Rubber (rejected)
A material formed from one or more rubbers or other polymers, combined with all necessary additives, to provide the desired properties when used in hose manufacturing.
