This Standard was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard replaced GB/T 5462-2003 Industrial Salt. Compared with GB/T 5462-2003 Industrial Salt, in addition to some editorial modifications, this Standard mainly has the following technical changes. --- Modify the scope; --- Add the terms and definitions; --- Increase the wet salt varieties of the refined Industrial salt; --- Improve the sodium chloride, water indicators to a certain degree. This Standard was proposed by China Light Industry Council. This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee for Standardization of Salt Industry (SAC/TC 295). This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, technical requirements, test methods, batch and sampling, inspection rules, package, label, transportation and storage of the Industrial salt. This Standard is applicable to the salt excavated from seawater (including the coastal underground brine), or the Industrial salt produced with salt lake brine, rock salt or underground brine as the raw materials.2 Normative References

The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 3.1 Solar industrial salt The industrial salt produced by the brine solar evaporation and crystallization process. 3.2 Refined industrial salt The industrial salt with brine or salt as the raw materials, produced by the vacuum evaporation salt-making process, and mechanical thermal compression evaporation salt-making process.4 Product Classification
The industrial salt is divided into solar industrial salt and refined industrial salt as per the processes; it is also divided into dry industrial salt and wet industrial salt as per the product characteristics.5 Technical Requirements
5.1 Sensory requirements White, yellowish or greenish white crystal, no significant foreign matters associated with the product. 5.2 Physical and chemical indicators The physical and chemical indicators of industrial salt shall conform to the provisions of Table 1.6 Test Methods
6.1 Sensory determination Take appropriate amount of sample and place it into a clean white enamel dish, under the natural light, observe its color and luster, morphology, impurities visually. 6.2 Physical and chemical indicators 6.2.1 Total amount of calcium and magnesium ions It shall be implemented as per the provisions of GB/T 13025.6. 6.2.2 Sulfate ion It shall be implemented as per the provisions of GB/T 13025.8. 6.2.3 Sodium chloride 6.2.4 Moisture 6.2.4.1 Method of weight loss on drying According to the provision of Chapter 2 in GB/T 13025.3, after drying and keeping constant weight at 140°C, the moisture content of the sample (mass fraction) indicates the sum between weight loss on drying and residual crystal water in compounds. The moisture content of the sample shall be calculated as per Formula (1). 6.2.5 Water insoluble matters It shall be implemented as per the provisions of GB/T 13025.4. 6.2.6 Data inspection If the sum of the following matters, like sodium chloride, calcium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, sodium sulfate, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, moisture, water insoluble matters, is between 99.5g/100g and 100.4g/100g, then the inspected data are qualified.7 Batch and Sampling
7.1 Batch The products with the same production process and resources, and delivery at the same time.8 Inspection Rules
All indicators in the inspection results shall conform to the corresponding class requirements of this Standard; if there is one indicator that is disqualified to the provision of this Standard, then take the standby sample to re-inspect the disqualified indicator; if the re-inspection result still can’t conform to the provision of this Standard, then such batch of products shall be disqualified.9 Package, Label, Transportation and Storage
When the industrial salt leaves the factory (site), it can be packaged or in bulk.
