3 Terms and Definitions

4 Structure and classification
4.1 Hose
4.1.1 The hose consists of an inner lining layer, a reinforcement layer, and an outer covering layer (fire retardant layer). An armor layer may be provided upon request.
4.1.2 The inner lining is made of rubber or other polymer materials.
4.1.3 The reinforcement layer is composed of multiple strands of steel wire, steel rope and other materials.
4.1.4 The outer covering is composed of rubber or other polymer materials. The outer covering of hose assemblies with fire resistance requirements is required to have fire resistance properties.
