3 Terms and Definitions
3.1 System/Subsystem Terminology
3.1.1
Independent of the main engine, it generates, transmits and converts energy for the aircraft to achieve engine starting, aircraft ground maintenance, air emergency and other scenarios
An integrated system that meets energy needs.
Note. Auxiliary power systems include but are not limited to energy generation devices (such as combined power units, auxiliary power units, emergency power units, etc.), engine starters
(such as air turbine starter and starting control valve, gas turbine starter, etc.), electronic controller, aircraft accessory casing, intake subsystem, exhaust subsystem,
Install subsystems and supporting accessories.
3.1.2
Integrated power unit; IPU
A small turbine power unit that is combined with an auxiliary power unit (3.1.3) and an emergency power unit (3.1.4) by sharing a gearbox or turbine.
Force device.
3.1.3
Auxiliary power unit auxiliarypoweruint;APU
A small gas turbine power plant that provides compressed air and/or shaft power to an aircraft.
Note 1.The auxiliary power unit is not used for direct propulsion of the aircraft.
Note 2.The auxiliary power unit generally consists of a compressor, a combustion chamber, a turbine, an accessory gearbox and supporting accessories.
3.1.4
Emergency power unit emergency power unit; EPU
A small, non-air-breathing turbine power unit that provides emergency shaft power for an aircraft.
Note. Emergency power unit includes but is not limited to turbine, gas generator, fuel tank, gearbox and control components.
3.1.5
Ramairturbine;RAT
A turbine power unit that uses ram air as energy to provide emergency power for aircraft.
3.1.6
Electronic components that implement the auxiliary power system (3.1.1) functions of starting control, steady-state control, parking control, status monitoring, and health management.
equipment.
