Paint and varnish spring pen scratch test
1 Scope
This document describes a method for determining the scratch resistance of coatings using a commonly used hand-held loaded scratch stylus to create scratches.
The test can be performed using a pointed stylus (Method A) or a disc stylus (Method B).
Both methods are universally applicable and can be used in the field as well as on curved surfaces. Method A can also be used for small specimens (maximum

The test can be performed as a "pass/fail" test (test requirement I) or as a graded test (test requirement II).
