1 Scope

This document describes the purpose and principle of the containment test for turbocharger rotors of aircraft piston engines and specifies the pre-test preparations. Preparation, test implementation, test data processing and criteria and test report contents. This document applies to containment testing of turbocharger rotors for aircraft piston engines.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Rotor Turbocharger compressor wheel or turbine wheel. 3.2 Containment The turbocharger housing withstands high-speed impacts from rotor fragments without being penetrated. 4.Purpose of the experiment Verify whether the turbocharger housing has sufficient strength to accommodate the high-energy rotor when the rotor fails under extreme conditions Fragments.
