1 Scope
This document describes the non-dispersive infrared absorption spectroscopic method for the determination of total organic carbon in wood-based panels and their products, including reagents, instruments and equipment.
Preparation, sample preparation, measurement steps, data processing and result presentation and reporting.
This document is applicable to the determination of total organic carbon in wood-based panels and their products.
This document is not applicable to the determination of total organic carbon in wood-based panels and their products that use carbonate minerals as the main additive.

Wood-based panel
Wood or non-wood plant fiber materials are used as the main raw materials, processed into various material units, and applied (or not applied) adhesives and other additives.
Additives, made into plates or shaped products.
Note. Mainly includes plywood, particle board, fiberboard, etc.

Total carbon
The total amount of carbon in wood-based panels and their products.
Note. Includes organic carbon and inorganic carbon.
3.3
Total organic carbon
The total amount of carbon in organic form in wood-based panels and their products.

Total inorganic carbon
The total amount of carbon in inorganic form in artificial boards and their products.
Note. This includes carbon in the form of carbonates or bicarbonates.
