Determination of long-term water absorption rate of thermal insulation materials by diffusion method
1 Scope
This document specifies the equipment and method for determining the long-term water absorption of thermal insulation materials by the diffusion method.
The water absorption capacity of materials. These materials not only withstand close to 100% relative humidity on both sides for a long time during use, but also have
Water vapour pressure gradients, such as on pitched roofs or unprotected floor insulation.
This document applies to some insulation materials, but not all types of insulation materials. Product standards for insulation materials should usually state
This document may apply to specific products.
NOTE. For floor insulation, lower temperatures may be used instead of the 50°C test temperature currently specified in this document when more data become available.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in ISO 472 apply.
4 Principle
The diffusion method for determining long-term water absorption is to subject the sample to a specific water vapor pressure difference and temperature gradient between its upper and lower surfaces over a period of 28 days.
The degree is then determined by measuring the mass increase of the sample.
5.Instruments and Materials
5.1 Balance. precision 0.1 g.
5.2 Corrosion-resistant container. with a frame capable of supporting the specimen.
5.3 Heating device. Equipped with a thermostat that can control the water temperature at (50±1)℃.
5.4 Cooling plate. The outside must be insulated and operate at a working temperature of (1±0.5)℃.
5.5 Tap water. temperature maintained at (50±1)℃.
5.6 Test apparatus. The basic principle of the test apparatus is shown in Figure 1.
