Warning---This document may involve hazardous materials, operations and equipment. This document does not discuss safety issues related to their use.
It is the user's responsibility to determine the applicability of the regulations for safety and health protection prior to use.
1 Scope
This document specifies the basic method for sampling slurries formed by mixing iron ore fines with a nominal maximum particle size of < 1 mm and water.
When the mixing ratio is very high, the material is in the form of a paste (about 80% solids, depending on the particle size distribution of the solids). This mixture is exactly called
Pastes. This document does not cover the sampling of pastes.
The procedures described in this document are applicable to the sampling of iron ore transported in the form of a slurry flow. These slurries can be free fall or
Slurry is enclosed in a pipe, chute, chute, spiral or similar conduit. This document does not cover the sampling of slurries in pressure pipes.
Satisfactory sampling can only be carried out at a switching point before the pressurized pipe at the end of the pipe when the slurry is no longer under pressure.
In addition, sampling of static slurries (e.g. slurries that are settling or agitated in tanks, vessels or dams) is not recommended and is not covered by this document.
This document describes procedures designed to provide samples representative of the solids slurry and particle size distribution to be examined.
After the slurry sample has been filtered, the wet sample containing the solids in the slurry can be used for drying (if necessary) or for comparing a
Chemical or physical measurement of one or more quality characteristics.
The sampling methods described in this document are applicable to slurries that require testing to verify compliance with product specifications.
The results can be used as the basis for settlements between trading partners or to estimate a set of mean characteristics and variances that describe a system or process.
If the flow rate is not too high, compared with other sampling procedures, the reference method is to circulate the entire slurry within the prescribed time or volume interval.
Transfer to a container, ensuring that all parts of the slurry flow are transferred to the container in the same period of time. This document is consistent with the ISO 3082
The reference incremental sample is as close as possible to the incremental sample taken by the sampling procedure being evaluated.
