3 Basic terminology
3.1
Plant extractplantextract
Using the whole or part of a plant as raw material (4.4), through extraction, concentration and/or separation, drying and other processes, targeted acquisition and concentration
A product that contains one or more ingredients in a plant and generally does not change the structural characteristics of the original plant ingredients.
Note 1.The product form is generally solid, liquid and paste.
Note 2.Add excipients (4.7) or supplement with excipients (4.8).
Note 3.Unless otherwise specified, it generally refers to a single extract (3.9).

Fresh plant extract freshplantextract
Plant extracts (3.1) obtained from the whole or part of fresh plants (4.4).
Note 1.The liquid obtained from fresh plants by physical methods such as squeezing is fresh plant juice, which is a liquid fresh plant extract.
Note 2.Fresh plant juice is a fresh plant extract in solid or paste form after drying.

The extract obtained through extraction, separation and purification contains a single component (7.24) accounting for more than 90% (on a dry basis) of the extract.
