General Rules for Labeling and Identification of Essential Oil Products
1 Scope
This document specifies general rules for labeling and marking containers containing essential oils to facilitate identification of the containers
items within.
2 Normative references
This document has no normative references.
3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
label labeling
The process of identifying and characterizing the contents of a container by means of tags, collars, nameplates, etc. that do not form part of the container.
3.2
Marking
The process of identifying and characterizing the contents of a container by means of marks, imprints, pictures, etc. that form part of the container.
4 general rules
Because the label can be destroyed in whole or in part, it is preferred to use the identification label, especially for large volume containers, such as barrels and cans.
However, for small containers that are used to hold reference samples or test samples, labeling may be more convenient.
The material from which the labels are made should be durable enough to withstand shipping conditions.
The label shall be secured to the container in a manner that neither replaces it nor prevents its subsequent use for other purposes.
The label should be directly attached (sticked) to the container using a method that makes it durable and not easy to remove.
