1 Scope
This document presents terms and definitions, zoning types and indicator characteristics of agriculture in arid areas dominated by planting.
This document applies to production, management and scientific research in agriculture and related fields in arid regions.

3 Terms and Definitions
3.1 Basic terminology
3.1.1
aridareas
Areas with an average annual precipitation less than 650mm.
Note. Including arid regions, semi-arid and arid regions, semi-arid regions, sub-humid and arid regions, and sub-humid regions.
3.1.2
Agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery production and related activities in dry areas.
3.1.3
dryness
An index that characterizes the degree of dryness of the climate. See formula (1) for calculation.
