3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Fermentable organic matter (FOM) intherumen
Plant-based feed ingredients, total mixed rations (TMR), organic matter that can be fermented by rumen microorganisms.
3.2
Real-time rumen degradation rate realtimerumendegradationrate
dp
The mass of a certain ingredient degraded after the feed stays in the rumen for a certain period of time accounts for the percentage of the sample.
3.3
Rumen chyme outflow rate outflowrateofrumendigesta
The mass of chyme flowing out of the rumen per unit time accounts for the percentage of the total mass of chyme in the rumen.
3.4
Effective rumen degradation rate effectiverumendegradationrate
The degradation rate calculated based on the real-time degradation rate at different time points and the outflow rate of rumen chyme under actual feeding conditions.
