Specification for pen covers to reduce the risk of choking
1 Scope
This document specifies requirements for covers for writing and marking instruments to reduce the risk of choking.
This document applies to writing and marking instruments that are normally or foreseeably used by children aged 14 years and under.
This document does not apply to the following products or parts.
---Writing and marking instruments designed for adults or intended for adults only, such as jewelry pens, expensive fountain pens, professional technical pens, etc.;
---Protective cover for the pen refill.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
ISO and IEC maintain terminology databases used for standardization at the following websites.
3.1
The utility model discloses a writing and marking utensil with a removable pen cover and a water storage structure for storing ink or other marking liquids.
3.2
Pen cap
A removable component used to protect the writing and marking tip or nib when the pen is not in use.
4 Requirements
4.1 General
The pen cover shall comply with at least one of the requirements in 4.2 or 4.3.
4.2 Pen Cap Size
When the pen cap, under its own weight, vertically enters the annular gauge with a diameter of 16 0.05 0 mm and a thickness of not less than 19 mm along the axial direction
When the pen cap is not inserted into the ring gauge, the length of the pen cap should be at least 5 mm, see Figure 1.
NOTE. Pen caps complying with this clause are considered large enough not to present an aspiration hazard.
4.3 Pen cap air flow
Carry out the test according to Appendix A at room temperature. When the maximum pressure difference is 1.33 kPa, the air flow rate through the pen cover should be at least 8 L/min.
