Foreword
This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard uses the translation method equivalent to ISO 14240-1..1997 "Soil quality Soil microbial biomass determination Part 1.
Substrate-induced respiration ".
For ease of use, this standard has been modified as follows.
--- Change the standard name to "Soil microbial biomass determination of substrate-induced respiration".
This standard is proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China.
This standard is under the responsibility of the National Soil Quality Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC404).

Determination of Soil Microbial Biomass
Substrate - induced respiration
1 Scope
This standard specifies the principle, conditions, reagents and materials, instruments, steps and results of soil microbial biomass by substrate-induced respiration method.
Calculation and reporting requirements.
This standard applies to the determination of the activity of aerobic heterotrophic microbial biomass in well-ventilated agricultural soils and mineral soils.
This standard does not apply to the determination of the effect of chemicals on soil microbial biomass.

3 terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Soil microbial biomass
Quality of Living Microbial Cells in Soil.
Note. This indicator can be estimated by measuring the amount of carbon or nitrogen in these cells, or by measuring the mineralization capacity of the added carbon source. Such as the use of carbon or nitrogen content
Analysis, it may include dead cells or cell debris, such as the determination of soil respiration, can only be measured to live cells.
3.2
Soil respiration rate soilrespirationrate
The unit mass of soil releases CO2 volume per unit time.
4 principle
Add glucose to form a series of soil glucose concentration gradients until the highest respiration rate (typically no more than 1 h) is reached as the most
Large initial respiration rate used to estimate soil active microbial biomass.
