1 Scope

This document specifies the acceptance level requirements for penetrant testing of surface opening defects in metal welds. The acceptance levels specified in this document are primarily for manufacturing stage inspections, but may also be used for in-service inspections when appropriate. The acceptance levels specified in this document are expected to achieve the following when conforming to the techniques specified in the ISO 3452 series standards and the parameters recommended in Appendix A.
