Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".
Drafting.
This document supersedes GB/T 2075-2007 "Classification and Applications of Hard Cutting Materials for Cutting Machines - Major Groups and Subgroups".
Compared with GB/T 2075-2007, the main technical changes in the "No." are as follows, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications.
a) The material group represented by the letter symbol "DD" has been added (see Table 3);
b) The "polycrystalline diamond with binder" material group and its code have been added (see Table 3);
c) An "Application Scope Table" has been added (see Table 6);
d) Added explanations regarding discrepancies between the designation in the application group and the cutting material grade (see Chapter 6).
This document adopts ISO 513.2012 "Classification and application of hard cutting materials for machining – Major groups and subgroups" for classification.
Code name.
This document adds two chapters. "Normative References" and "Terms and Definitions".

Classification and Applications of Hard Cutting Materials for Machining
Classification codes for major groups and application groups
1 Scope
This document defines hard-cutting materials, including cemented carbide, ceramics, diamond, and boron nitride, for machining by removing metal.
Classification and uses.
This document applies to hard-cutting materials used in cutting tools, but not to other tools (such as mining and other impact tools, wire drawing dies, etc.).
Hard materials are used for metal plastic deformation tools, comparator probes, etc.
2 Normative references
This document has no normative references.
3 Terms and Definitions
This document does not contain any terms or definitions that need to be defined.
4 Code Name
The designation for the hard-cutting materials application group includes the letter symbols given in Tables 1 to 4, followed by a hyphen "-" and the designation specified in Chapter 5.
The code names for the transit group and the application group.
Table 1 Hard alloy
Letter symbol material group
HW is an uncoated cemented carbide primarily containing tungsten carbide (WC), with a grain size ≥1μm.
HF is an uncoated cemented carbide primarily containing tungsten carbide (WC), with a particle size < 1 μm.
HTa is an uncoated hard alloy primarily containing titanium carbide (TiC) or titanium nitride (TiN), or both.
The above-mentioned cemented carbide HC has been coated.
HT-type cemented carbide is also known as "cermet".
Table 2 Ceramics
Letter symbol material group
CA ceramics mainly containing alumina (Al2O3).
CR mainly consists of alumina (Al2O3) reinforced ceramics.
CM is a mixed ceramic mainly based on alumina (Al2O3) but containing non-oxide components.
CN mainly contains silicon nitride (Si3N4) nitride ceramics
The aforementioned ceramics were coated.
