Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 17815-1999 "Determination of propionic acid and propionate in feed".
This standard is compared with GB/T 17815-1999 "Determination of propionic acid and propionate in feed", except for editorial modification, the main technical content
The changes are as follows.
--- Increase the detection limit and limit of quantitation of the method (see Chapter 1);
--- Revised the concentration of phosphoric acid in the preparation of sample solution (see 3.5.1,.1999 edition 7.1);
--- Increased reagent quartz sand and formic acid in the preparation of sample solution (see 3.5.1);
--- The gas chromatographic column was changed from packed column to capillary column, and the chromatographic conditions were changed accordingly. The quantification was changed from the internal standard method to the external standard method (see
3.5.3,.1999 edition 7.2);
--- Increased liquid chromatography;
--- The result unit is changed from "%" to "mg/kg" (see 3.6, Chapter 8 of the.1999 edition);
--- Added informative appendix.
This standard is proposed and managed by the National Feed Industry Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC76).
This standard was drafted. Guoliang Wuhan Scientific Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd. [National Feed Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Wuhan)].

The previous versions of the standards replaced by this standard are.
---GB/T 17815-1999.
Determination of propionic acid and propionate in feed
1 Scope
This standard specifies the gas chromatographic and high performance liquid chromatography methods for the determination of propionic acid and propionate in feed.
This standard is applicable to feed materials, compound feeds, concentrated feeds of propionic acid and propionate with propionic acid content below 3000mg/kg (to C
Determination of acid meter).
The detection limit of gas chromatography in this standard is 30mg/kg, the limit of quantification is 100mg/kg; the detection limit of high performance liquid chromatography is
30mg/kg, the limit of quantification is 100mg/kg.

3.1 Principle
The propionic acid and propionate in the sample are acidified by phosphoric acid, the propionate is converted into propionic acid, and the steam distillation separates the propionic acid from the substrate, and the distillate is separated.
Propionic acid was detected by gas chromatograph with hydrogen flame ionization detector and quantified by external standard method.
3.2 Reagents or materials
Only analytically pure reagents were used in the analysis unless otherwise stated.
3.2.1 Water, GB/T 6682, level one.
3.2.2 Phosphoric acid. excellent grade pure.
3.2.3 Sodium chloride.
3.2.4 Quartz sand.
3.2.5 Silicone oil.
3.2.6 Phosphoric acid solution (1 1). Dilute 50 mL of phosphoric acid to 100 mL with water and mix.
3.2.7 Formic acid solution (2 98). Pipette 2 mL of formic acid to 100 mL with water and mix.
3.2.8 Propionic acid standard stock solution. Accurately weigh 1.0310g propionic acid (C3H6O2, purity ≥97%) in a 100mL volumetric flask, add water
Dissolve and bring up to volume. Shake well. 1 mL of this solution contained 10 mg of propionic acid, and this solution was stored at 4 ° C for 30 days.
3.2.9 Propionic acid standard working solution. Pipette the standard stock solution of propionic acid (3.2.8) 10.0mL into a 100mL volumetric flask and dilute with water.
Rong. 1 mL of this solution contains 1 mg of propionic acid, which is ready for use.
3.2.10 0.45 μm filter.
3.3 Instrumentation
3.3.1 Gas Chromatograph. with a hydrogen flame ionization detector.
