1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination of ash content in animal fats principles and steps.
This standard applies to all animal and plant fats and oils - Determination of ash.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.
3.1
After burning under defined conditions remaining inorganic residues, the mass fraction expressed.
Principle 4
After the sample at a specific temperature to obtain an inorganic residue on ignition, mass of the residue was weighed.
5 Reagents
All reagents were of analytical grade, distilled water, or at least the purity of this water.
5.1 Hydrogen peroxide solution. volume fraction of 10%.
5.2 ammonium carbonate.
6 Equipment
6.1 Crucible. 50mL (shallow depth), preferably a quartz crucible or a platinum crucible.
6.2 Electric hot plate or an electric furnace.
6.3 muffle furnace. temperature between 500 ℃ ~ 600 ℃.
6.4 filter. ash-free filter paper.
6.5 water bath.
6.6 dryer. fitted with an efficient desiccant drying vessel.
6.7 Analytical balance. dividing the value of 0.001g.
