This Standard uses translation method to equivalently adopt international standard ISO 10190.2008 Motorcycle Chains – Characteristics and Test Methods. This Standard replaced GB/T 14212-2003 Motorcycle Chains – Characteristics and Test Methods. Compared with GB/T 14212-2003, the major technical changes of this Standard are as follows. --- Add a new table of contents page and ISO introduction; --- Made technical revisions to Figures 1, 2 and 3; and delete a double-row structural diagram; --- Made technical revisions to 3.4.3, adjusting the original pre-tension load value from 1/3 of the minimum tensile strength value to 30%; --- Made technical revisions to 3.4.4, adjusting the original tolerance of the chain measurement length from +0.15 0 % of the nominal length of the chain to +0.25 0 %; --- Cancel the original standard's requirements for dynamic load test; --- Made technical revisions to Table 1, adding dynamic load strength Fd, and cancelling the original standard's provisions for maximum load F1 and minimum load F2 for fatigue test; --- Adopt all new ISO chain numbers in Table 1; add seven new chain specifications, namely. 219H, 415MH, 420MH, 520MH, 525, 525MH, 530MH; cancel 08MB-2 double-row chain; adjust some data in the original Table 1; --- "(0.0009df+0.08), up to 1.14mm" in ISO 10190.2008 Annex A Clause A.7, because the diameter of motorcycle sprockets is not too large, delete "up to 1.14mm" in this Standard adoption; --- Partially adjust and rewrite the NOTE of Table 1; --- Move the Annex A of the original standard to Annex B; --- Add new Annexes A and C. The Annexes A and C of this Standard are normative; while Annex B is informative. This Standard was proposed by China Machinery Industry Federation. This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Chain Transmission of Standardization Administration of China. Motorcycle Chains – Characteristics and Test Methods1 Scope
This International Standard specifies the dimensions and mechanical properties of roller and bush chains together with details of associated chain sprockets (see Annex A), in the range 6.35 mm to 19.05 mm pitch, for use in motorcycle applications. These chains are suitable for external drives (e.g., rear drives). It covers dimensions, tolerances, length measurement, preloading, minimum tensile strength and minimum dynamic strength.2 Normative References
