1 Scope
This document specifies the product classification, structure and materials, marking, technical requirements, and testing of synchronous belts for general transmission (hereinafter referred to as synchronous belts).
Methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation and storage.
This document applies to rubber synchronous belts used in general transmissions.
This document does not apply to automotive timing belts.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 6931.3 apply to this document.
4 Product Categories
Synchronous belts are classified by tooth distribution into single-sided and double-sided types, with double-sided belts further divided into symmetrical and staggered types; they are also classified by tooth shape.
The teeth are trapezoidal, curved, and circular.
There are fifteen models of trapezoidal toothed synchronous belts, as follows.
Curved toothed synchronous belts are available in four tooth types. G, H, R, and S, with a total of sixteen models, as detailed below.
G-type teeth. G8M, G14M models;
H-tooth type. H3M, H5M, H8M, H14M, H20M models;
R-tooth type. R3M, R5M, R8M, R14M, R20M models;
S-tooth type. S3M, S5M, S8M, S14M models.
There are five models of arc tooth synchronous belts. 3M, 5M, 8M, 14M, and 20M.
5.Structure and Materials
5.1 Structure
Synchronous belts generally consist of four parts. toothed cloth, toothed belt, tensile core rope, and belt back, as shown in Figure 1.
