This standard replaces GB/T 12547-1990 "Motor vehicles - Minimum stable speed - Test method". Main differences between this standard and GB/T 12547-1990 are as follows. -- Definition of minimum stable speed is added; -- Existing velocity measurement instruments are adopted; -- Contents of test conditions are added; -- Contents of testing procedures are modified. Appendix A of this standard is informative. This standard was proposed by the National Development and Reform Commission. This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee 114 on Road Vehicles of Standardization Administration of China. Drafting organizations of this standard. This standard specifies the minimum stable speed test method for motor vehicles. This standard is applicable to all kinds of motor vehicles. Automobile train may be implemented by reference to this standard.2 Normative References

For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 4. Test conditions 4.1 Measuring instruments Requirements on measuring instruments for testing are as follows. 4.2 Test site The testing shall be carried out on straight-way of flat hard surface (asphalt or cement); the length of the straightway shall not be less than 1km, the width shall not be less than 8m; the longitudinal gradient shall not be greater than 0.1%; and the road surface shall be dry and clean. 4.3 Meteorological conditions It shall be fine day or cloudy day without fog; the relative humidity shall be less than 95%; air temperature is between 0~40Ԩ; and air velocity is not greater than 3m/s. 4.4 Test load Test load shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 12543.5 Test Procedures
5.1 Place the transmission and transfer case (if any) of the test vehicle at the required gear position; starting from idling speed of the motor to make the motor vehicle maintained in a lower stable travelling speed through the test road section; and then observe the speed through velocity measurement instrument or speed travel measuring device; determine its actual average speed when the motor vehicle is through 100 m test road section. 5.2 Where the motor vehicle is pulling out of the test road section, accelerator pedal shall be pressed immediately and rapidly; and at this time, the motor shall not be stalled and transmitting mechanism shall not be vibrated, the motor vehicle is able to be in stable and continuous acceleration, and the corresponding engine speed shall not be declined.6 Test Results
