1 Scope
This document describes the non-destructive determination of the content of major metal elements in metal materials for repair by a hand-held energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.
Methods for detection of semi-quantitative methods.
This document applies to metal materials for the manufacture of dental prosthetic devices and restorations, including precious metals and their alloys (gold-based alloys, palladium-based alloys)
etc.), semi-quantitative analysis of the content of main metal elements in non-precious metals and their alloys (cobalt-based alloys, nickel-based alloys, titanium and titanium alloys, etc.).
This document also applies to dental restorative devices and restorations made of metal materials, such as crowns/bridges, metal stents, porcelain crowns, bridges, etc.
Semi-quantitative analysis of the content of major metal elements.
This document does not apply to metal elements with an element content of less than 1% (mass fraction).
This document applies to metal elements within the content ranges listed in Table 1.
