1 Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the moisture content and basic density of paper chips. This standard is applicable to the determination of the moisture content and basic density of wood chips used in the production of pulp.

2 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 2.1 Basic density basicdensity The drying quality per unit volume of the wood chip sample in the saturated moisture state. 2.2 Drying quality oven-drymass The quality of the wood chip sample after drying to constant weight. 2.3 Raw material volume greenvolume; soakedvolume The volume when the wood chip sample is in a saturated moisture state.

3 Principle

3.1 Moisture content The paper chips were dried to constant weight at (105 ± 2) °C, and the mass fraction of moisture was calculated from the mass loss of the chips. 3.2 Basic density The density of water is 1g/cm3, and the quality of the discharged water after the saturated water sample is equal to the sample volume is equal to the sample volume value. Raw material volume. The ratio of the drying quality to the raw material volume is the basic density.
