1 Scope
This standard specifies the methods for sample preparation and quality inspection of import and export of molasses.
This standard applies to the quality inspection of molasses produced by sugar cane.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.
3.1
The percentage of sucrose weight in pure sucrose solution. Because molasses is a non-pure sucrose liquid, the value read is the solute (solid matter) in the solution.
An approximation of the percentage of volume, also known as "view solids."
3.2
The total amount of all acidic components in the molasses.
3.3
The total amount of sugar in the molasses, calculated as invert sugar.
3.4
The residual substance of molasses after being burned at a high temperature; when the molasses is burned, the sugar and other organic matter are carbonized and further oxidized to carbon dioxide for discharge.
Various cations (mainly K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, etc.) in the sample form sulfate under the action of sulfuric acid, and the main component is sulfate.
The ash after burning is expressed in terms of sulphuric acid ash.
