5 Sample collection, transportation and storage
5.1 Sample collection of live cattle
Use a sterile swab to collect nasal secretions or take a sterile puncture with a syringe to take the pleural fluid.
5.2 Sample collection of dead cattle
Sterile lung disease tissue, lung lymph nodes, pleural fluid, and arthritis are taken as joint synovial fluid.
5.3 Transportation of samples
Samples that need to be transported over long distances should be placed in transport medium and delivered to the laboratory within 48 hours at 4 °C.
5.4 Storage of samples
If the collected sample cannot be sent to the laboratory immediately or the laboratory cannot immediately test it, the sample should be stored at -20 °C.
