3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 exhaust systemexhaust system A complete device that processes the exhaust gas generated when the engine is working and discharges it to the outside (the part between the exhaust hot end outlet and the exhaust tail pipe outlet). 3.2 exhaust muffler assemblyexhaust muffler assembly The exhaust system is equipped with sound-absorbing materials or special airflow ducts to effectively reduce exhaust noise. Note. Generally includes single muffler, flange, pipe, hook, etc. Single muffler is a component that can independently play a role in silencing and constitute the exhaust muffler assembly. 3.3 Leak proofness The degree of sealing of the muffler. Note. Expressed in terms of air leakage. 3.4 exhaust noiseexhaust noise The sound produced when the exhaust gas generated by the engine is discharged from the exhaust pipe port. 3.5 background noise The noise of the surrounding environment (including wind noise) when the exhaust noise being measured is not present. 3.6 Insertion loss The difference in exhaust noise A-weighted sound pressure level before and after the muffler is installed.
