Preface
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents"
Drafting.
This document replaces QC/T 631-2009 "Technical conditions and test methods for automotive exhaust muffler assemblies" and is consistent with QC/T 631-2009.
In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
--Changed the life requirements of mufflers (see 4.1.4, 4.10 of the.2009 edition);
--Changed the requirements for corrosion resistance (see 4.2, 4.4 of the.2009 edition);
--Changed the relevant requirements for sealing (see 4.3, 4.5 of the.2009 edition);
--Added the modal frequency requirements and test methods for muffler housing and hook (see 4.6 and 5.6);
--Changed the vibration durability requirements and test methods (see 4.7 and 5.7, 4.8 and 5.4 of the.2009 edition);
--Changed the factory inspection requirements (see 6.1.2, 6.1.2 of the.2009 edition);
--The type inspection requirements have been changed (see 6.2.2, 6.2.2 of the.2009 edition).

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
exhaust systemexhaust system
A complete device that processes the exhaust gas generated when the engine is working and discharges it to the outside (the part between the exhaust hot end outlet and the exhaust tail pipe outlet).
3.2
exhaust muffler assemblyexhaust muffler assembly
The exhaust system is equipped with sound-absorbing materials or special airflow ducts to effectively reduce exhaust noise.
Note. Generally includes single muffler, flange, pipe, hook, etc. Single muffler is a component that can independently play a role in silencing and constitute the exhaust muffler assembly.
3.3
Leak proofness
The degree of sealing of the muffler.
Note. Expressed in terms of air leakage.
3.4
exhaust noiseexhaust noise
The sound produced when the exhaust gas generated by the engine is discharged from the exhaust pipe port.
3.5
background noise
The noise of the surrounding environment (including wind noise) when the exhaust noise being measured is not present.
3.6
Insertion loss
The difference in exhaust noise A-weighted sound pressure level before and after the muffler is installed.
