The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

Decoction
A liquid preparation prepared by decoction or immersion in boiling water of the decoction pieces and filtering to obtain the filtrate.
Note 1.Those who use crude decoction pieces as medicine are also known as "cooked powder", and those who soak the medicine in boiling water and drink it irregularly from time to time, commonly known as "drink".
Note 2.The decoction is mainly used for oral administration, nasal feeding, and enema. It can also be used for gargle, bath, and fumigation.

The oral liquid preparations made by extracting the pieces with water or other solvents using appropriate methods.
