1 Scope

This document describes the test method for the resistance of conveyor belts with full thickness fabric cores or with the cover removed to initial tear propagation. This document applies to textile core conveyor belts without transverse metal mesh, used in installations where there is a risk of longitudinal tearing.

There are no terms or definitions that require definition in this document. 4 Principles The specimen is stretched at a specified speed to test the force required to expand the initial crack in the specimen. 5 Devices The tensile testing machine has the following basic characteristics. a) The measuring range of the testing machine should be such that the measured force value is within 90% of its measuring range; b) The separation speed of the two grippers should be adjustable to (50±10) mm/min; c) The distance between the two clamps holding the specimen should be adjustable to at least 300 mm. The tensile testing machine should be equipped with a recording device for automatically drawing the tear force curve. 6.Samples 6.1 Sampling method The specimen should be cut along the longitudinal direction of the belt and at a distance of not less than 50 mm from the edge of the belt.
