1 Scope
This part of GB/T 6730 specifies the EDTA titration method for the determination of barium in iron ore.
This section applies to natural iron ore, iron concentrate and lump ore, including the determination of barium content in sintered products. Measuring range (mass fraction).

3 Principle
The sample is dissolved in hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid is boiled and smoke dissolves barium sulfate, so that it forms barium bisulfate, diluted with water to precipitate pure
Barium sulfate is precipitated, filtered and washed to separate the barium from most interfering elements.
In an ammoniacal medium, heat the barium sulfate precipitate with an excess of EDTA standard solution to dissolve it, and titrate with magnesium chloride standard solution
EDTA standard solution, calculate the barium content in the sample.
If the strontium content in the sample is greater than 0.02%, add excess magnesium chloride-potassium dichromate standard solution to generate barium chromate and release EDTA
Complex with excess magnesium ion, use KB as indicator, titrate with EDTA standard solution, calculate the barium content in the sample.
4 Reagent
Unless otherwise specified in the analysis, only approved analytically pure reagents and tertiary water in accordance with GB/T 6682 are used or their purity is equivalent

4.1 KB indicator, weigh 0.25g acidic complex blue K, 0.1g naphthol green B, 10g potassium chloride, grind and mix well.
4.2 Hydrochloric acid, ρ about 1.19g/mL.
