This standard is applicable to the determination of the octane number of the Ignition Engine Fuel Law and does not apply to fuels and their fuel components consisting essentially of oxygen-containing compounds. Note: The octane number ranges from 0 to 120, but the effective method of this standard is to measure the range of 40 to 120. The commercial octane number ranges from 88 to 101 for commercial spark ignition engines, and octane numbers for gasoline grades or other liquid substances. The values ??for the operating conditions of this standard are expressed in SI units, in brackets, in English units, and for standard CFR engines, in imperial units. |
