Summary This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, determination rules, packaging, labeling, transport and storage of edible salt. This standard applies to salt water, underground brine, salt lake brine, sea salt, rock salt or lake salt as raw materials made of edible salt. This standard does not apply to low sodium salt products. This standard does not apply to the production of salt of other raw materials, especially chemical, light and other by-products of salt.

This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB 5461-2000 "edible salt" and No. 1, revision number 2. Compared with GB 5461-2000, in addition to editorial

1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions of edible salts, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, rules of judgment, packaging, labeling, transport and storage.
This standard applies to edible salts made of seawater, underground brine, salt lake brine, sea salt, rock salt or lake salt. This standard does not apply
In low sodium products. This standard does not apply to other raw materials produced by salt products, especially chemical, light industry and other by-product salt.
