This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 503-1995 "Gasoline octane number determination method (motor method)".
This standard and GB/T 503-1995 compared to the main changes are as follows.
- the increase in the "Chapter 1 scope" note the effective motor octane number of the test range of 40 to 120 between the expression;
--- increase the "Chapter 2 normative reference documents" in China's corresponding national standards and industry standards;
- to modify and add some of the terms and definitions in Chapter 3, Terminology and Definitions, Abbreviations;
--- Added "Chapter 6 interference factors";
--- modified "Chapter 7 instruments and equipment" content, an increase of the engine, auxiliary devices, standard fuel distribution devices and auxiliary equipment
(See Chapter 6 of.1995);
- the revision of the "Chapter 8 Reagents and Standards", the standard fuel specification as specified (see.1995 edition
Chapter 7);
--- Added "Chapter 9 Sampling" to prevent exposure to light and the use of opaque containers to collect and store samples of the relevant content (see.1995

--- Added part of "Chapter 10 Benchmarking and Standard Operating Conditions for Engine and Instrument" (see the

1 Scope
This standard specifies the test method for the determination of gasoline octane number (motor method) using a CFR octane number testing machine.
